Smart and Skilled Course (part qualification) – Intro in Aged & Disability Care

This course is a collection of UOC designed to provide a course of training and assessment that will prepare graduates for entry-level work in aged care and disability industry. The UOC selected do not have prerequisites and do not require work placement as part of the assessment requirements.

HLTAID011          Provide First Aid

CHCHCS001       Provide home and community support services

CHCCCS011         Meet personal support needs

CHCDIS007          Facilitate the empowerment of people with disability

CHCDIS010          Provide person-centred services to people with disability with complex needs

The target learner

Employment status: Jobseeker

Reason for learning: Entry-level employment in home care package and NDIS providers

Pre-existing knowledge and skills: No minimum education standard is set as a prerequisite to entry to this course.

No previous industry experience is required

Entry requirements

Fitness Requirements: There are no specific fitness requirements associated with this course. However, learners enrolling in HLTAID011 Provide First Aid must be comfortable carrying out practical activities, which include kneeling on the floor and applying pressure with two hands onto the chest of a simulated casualty for 2 minutes.

Learners must complete a knowledge assessment task for First Aid before proceeding to the practical assessment.

Licensing, legislative or regulatory requirements:                N/A

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements:   Learners will require an academic level of year 10 (Australian) or equivalent to participate in training and assessment.

Learners must be 18 years of age or above at the time of the course training plan.
